Curlew spotted in protected site!
On their regular monitoring visit this week, Frank and Jenny Steele were very excited to sight a bush-stone curlew in one of the protected sites near Shelbourne Nature Conservation Reserve. The cameras on the site had not recordered any of the elusive birds but Frank and Jenny always walk the perimeter of the site to do a visual check. A single curlew was spotted in a corner of the site away from the cameras. No photo just yet but they have moved the camera to the area where they saw the curlew so, fingers crossed, we might see some action soon. This is great news and proof of the value of ensuring that there are some areas safe from predators so curlews can nest in peace!
