Ducks in the box-iron bark

Seizing a nesting opportunity

‘This wood Duck has 9-10 eggs and has nested in an old tree stump/fence post on our block. Ready to hatch very soon.’

Unlike many other native species, the range and numbers of these ducks have increased since European settlement thanks to dams and expansion of pasture. No doubt better policing of duck shooting has helped as well!!

We await further developments from Graeme and Liz.
